Horseshoe Bay — Bermuda's most celebrated beach — stuns with its crescent of blush-pink sand, turquoise waves, and rose-hued limestone cliffs. A half-day escape here is simply unmissable for any discerning traveller calling at Bermuda.
What to expect
The pink colour comes from crushed coral and shell fragments mixed into the sand — a phenomenon unique to a handful of beaches on Earth, and Horseshoe Bay is the finest expression of it. The main bay is framed by dramatic wind-sculpted limestone outcrops; walking the cliff path to either side reveals a string of smaller, quieter coves ideal for a private swim. The water is calm, crystal-clear, and warm from late spring through autumn. A small beach bar and equipment rental concession make it effortlessly comfortable. Arrive before 10 am for the most serene experience.
Good to know
About 25–30 minutes by taxi from the Dockyard (approx. USD 28–32 each way). No direct ferry. Allow at least 3 hours to do it justice, and build in transfer time against your all-aboard. Sun protection and reef-safe sunscreen are essential.
