Wander preserved medieval lanes and meet local coppersmiths and carpet weavers still practicing centuries-old crafts in this UNESCO-tentative-listed town.
What to expect
You'll stroll cobbled streets lined with 19th-century merchant houses and mosques, stepping into a coppersmith's workshop to see hammered vessels made by hand as they have been for generations. A weaver demonstrates traditional Nakhchivan carpet knotting techniques, and you're invited to try a few knots yourself. The tour closes in a shaded courtyard garden with fresh pomegranate tea.
Good to know
Comfortable walking shoes recommended for uneven cobblestones; the town is about an hour's drive from the port, so allow 4 hours total.
