Hike to the hauntingly beautiful San Isidro Lighthouse — a historic beacon perched at the very tip of the Brunswick Peninsula where the Strait of Magellan meets the wild Patagonian sky. One of the most atmospheric walks at the bottom of the world.
What to expect
Transfer from the port through the outskirts of Punta Arenas and into the raw wilderness of the Brunswick Peninsula. The guided coastal trek winds through wind-sculpted native forest and open headlands, with the strait glittering below and, on clear days, the mountains of Tierra del Fuego visible across the water. Arriving at the red-and-white striped San Isidro Lighthouse — still operational — feels like reaching the edge of the Earth itself. The guide shares tales of maritime disasters, early settlers, and the lighthouse keepers who lived in total isolation here for years.
Good to know
Trek duration is approximately 3–4 hours including transfers; suitable for moderate fitness levels. Wear sturdy, waterproof hiking boots and wind-proof layers. Generally compatible with a half-day port call, but confirm your all-aboard time. Ideal for late October through March.
