Discover the bold, singular flavours of Patagonian cuisine — king crab, centolla, lamb slow-roasted asado-style, and wild calafate berry sweets — through a hands-on cooking class led by a local chef, preceded by a guided tour of the city's vivid municipal market.
What to expect
Your local guide leads you through the Mercado Municipal, introducing you to the fishmongers hauling in the morning's centolla (Patagonian king crab) catch and the butchers preparing grass-fed Magallanes lamb. Moving to the kitchen, a professional Patagonian chef guides you through preparing two or three signature regional dishes — typically including a centolla starter, a lamb main, and a calafate berry dessert. The class concludes with a convivial shared meal accompanied by Chilean wine, and recipes to take home.
Good to know
Classes typically run 3–3.5 hours and can be scheduled to fit morning or early-afternoon port calls. Private group bookings are recommended for a fully bespoke menu — contact Nomades or a local culinary operator directly to arrange. The market is at its most vibrant before midday.
