Sail the legendary Beagle Channel on a private or small-group catamaran, rounding the 'Lighthouse at the End of the World' and drifting past sea-lion rookeries and cormorant cliffs in one of Patagonia's most cinematic seascapes.
What to expect
Departing Ushuaia's pier, the catamaran threads through the Beagle's mirror-calm waters framed by snow-capped Darwin Range peaks. At Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse — the inspiration for Jules Verne's 'Lighthouse at the End of the World' — the skipper cuts engines so you drift in silence through the colony. Rock cormorants launch overhead as the guide explains the channel's role in the 1830s Fitzroy–Darwin expedition. Hot drinks and regional snacks are served on deck on the return leg.
Good to know
Departures run morning and afternoon from Ushuaia's Muelle Turístico; afternoon sails offer the best golden-hour light. The excursion runs ~2.5 hours, fitting neatly around any all-aboard. Book at least 2–3 weeks ahead in high season (Nov–Mar).
