Sail to the barefoot-glamour island of Jost Van Dyke, birthplace of the Painkiller cocktail at the world-famous Soggy Dollar Bar, then anchor off pristine Sandy Spit — a tiny deserted islet straight out of a fantasy. A perfect BVI bucket-list day on the water.
What to expect
Depart Road Town's harbour on a luxury sailing catamaran, gliding past green volcanic peaks and glittering channels as breakfast is served on deck. At White Bay, Jost Van Dyke, wade ashore to the legendary Soggy Dollar Bar — no dock, just turquoise shallows — and sip a handcrafted Painkiller in the place that invented it. The afternoon brings a stop at Sandy Spit, a crescent of blindingly white sand ringed by warm Caribbean water, perfect for snorkeling or simply standing in paradise before sailing home.
Good to know
Departure around 8:30–9 AM; back in Road Town by 3:30–4 PM. The wade ashore at White Bay means getting your feet wet — wear water sandals. Pre-book as far ahead as possible; this is the BVI's most sought-after day sail.
