Walk inside the mouth of a dragon and emerge through a tiger at Kaohsiung's most photographed landmark — an ancient Taoist complex rising from a mist-laced lake at sunrise. Iconic, surreal, and deeply spiritual.
What to expect
Your guide meets you at the MRT station and leads you along the misty lakeside promenade as the pagodas light up in the early sun. You enter through the dragon's open jaws — symbolically cleansing past sins — traverse its painted belly, and exit through the tiger to gain good fortune. The surrounding temples are alive with morning worshippers burning incense and casting divination blocks. The entire scene is one of the most visually extraordinary in Taiwan.
