Surrender to Rangiroa's legendary Tiputa Pass current and glide past grey reef sharks, manta rays, and spinner dolphins in one of the world's top drift dives. This is the bucket-list underwater experience of the South Pacific.
What to expect
You board a small outrigger and time your entry to the incoming tide at Tiputa Pass, where the ocean pours into the lagoon in a rushing river of blue. Grey reef sharks cruise below you in formation, spinner dolphins bow-ride alongside, and eagle rays spiral upward from the deep. After the drift, the boat repositions to Rangiroa's famous Natural Aquarium — a shallow coral garden of clownfish, parrotfish, and Napoleon wrasse — for a leisurely snorkel at your own pace.
Good to know
Tiputa Pass diving is tide-dependent; morning departures (around 8–9 am) typically align with the best current. All-aboard times in Rangiroa are usually early afternoon, so a half-day morning session fits perfectly. Pre-book directly with Moana Voyages well in advance; groups are deliberately small.
