Join a revered Tuamotu elder for a private walking tour of Anaa's ancient marae (ceremonial stone platforms) and hear oral histories of the island's warrior past, its devastating 19th-century wars, and its unique place in Polynesian cosmology.
What to expect
The walk begins at the village of Tukuhora and moves through coconut groves to two partially restored marae. Your elder guide recounts how Anaa warriors were so feared they dominated the Tuamotu Archipelago for centuries. You'll see petroglyphs, coral-stone altars, and a restored fare (traditional house). The session concludes with a tasting of traditional fermented breadfruit — a rare privilege.
