At the precise crossing of the International Date Line, the open Pacific offers zero light pollution and a sky that belongs to both days at once. Join an expert astronomer for a private, telescope-led stargazing session at the most conceptually extraordinary coordinates on the planet.
What to expect
As darkness falls at the 180th meridian, your astronomer sets up a high-powered Dobsonian telescope on the upper deck. You navigate constellations used by Polynesian voyagers — the very sailors who crossed this line centuries before it had a name. The Milky Way arcs from horizon to horizon with a clarity that is simply impossible on land. The session closes with a private toast at midnight, precisely at the IDL crossing, as a new day begins on one side of the ship.
Good to know
This experience takes place entirely at sea; no tender required. Book early as groups are capped at 12. Dress warmly — mid-Pacific nights can be cooler than expected. Red-light torches are provided to preserve night vision. Session typically runs 9 PM–midnight around the crossing.
