Where French and British empires collided in 1759 and North America's fate was decided in 15 minutes — the Plains of Abraham is one of history's most consequential landscapes, reimagined as a world-class museum and urban national park.
What to expect
Begin inside the striking museum with 'Odyssey,' an immersive multi-room show using projection, sound design, and artefacts to reconstruct the 1759 siege and the 20-minute battle that transferred a continent. Step outside onto the sweeping 108-hectare park where the battle unfolded, now laced with interpretive markers and panoramic St. Lawrence vistas. Ascend a Martello tower — one of four circular stone defensive structures dating to 1808 — for a bird's-eye view over the old city. The park doubles as one of the finest picnic and promenade spaces in Québec, ideal for a leisurely finale.
Good to know
The museum and park are a 15-minute walk from the Citadelle along the ramparts, or a short taxi from the pier. 'Odyssey' runs on a schedule — check session times on arrival and book the discovery tour in advance via the museum website. Allow 3 hours minimum.
