Board a private rigid inflatable boat and carve through the mirror-still waters of Paamiut's fjord system, weaving between drifting icebergs and towering basalt cliffs. This is Greenland at its most primal and most beautiful — a genuine once-in-a-lifetime moment.
What to expect
Suited up in a provided flotation suit, you'll skim across the Paamiut fjord with a knowledgeable local skipper who reads the ice like a navigator-poet. The boat threads between icebergs of ethereal blue and white, pausing so you can absorb the silence — broken only by the crack and groan of calving ice. Seals often bob curiously alongside, and the surrounding peaks are dusted with snow even in summer. The sheer scale of the landscape viewed from water level is humbling.
Good to know
Flotation suits are provided; dress warmly underneath regardless of air temperature — the wind chill on the water is significant. Excursion runs approximately 1.5–2 hours. Confirm with the local operator through Visit Greenland before your voyage; bring a waterproof camera or a dry bag for your phone.
