Step inside Kobe's celebrated Nada sake district at Hakutsuru's 270-year-old brewery museum, dressed as a traditional kura. Taste premium junmai daiginjo in a tasting room where clarity of craft meets centuries of heritage.
What to expect
The museum occupies a beautifully preserved Edo-period kura in the Sumiyoshi Honmachi district of Nada — Japan's most celebrated sake-producing region. Life-size dioramas and original equipment tell the story of Nada's 'miyamizu' spring water, the secret behind its world-class sake. The tasting salon pours current premium expressions alongside classic labels. The surrounding Nada streets are quiet and photogenic — a world away from the tourist strip.
Good to know
A 15-min taxi or 20-min train from the cruise pier (Hanshin line, Sumiyoshi Station). Museum hours 09:30–16:30, closed Mondays. No pre-booking required for the general visit; free entry makes it one of Kobe's finest-value cultural stops. Pair with the Kobe Port Tower for a full-day itinerary.
