Walk the cobbled streets of a UNESCO-listed colonial town with a historian guide, then sit down to an intimate rum masterclass at a heritage distillery. History, architecture, and flavour in one unforgettable afternoon.
What to expect
Your privately licensed historian meets you at the pier and leads you on foot through pastel-painted colonial squares, pausing at a 17th-century cathedral, a former slave-trade counting house, and artisan workshops still using century-old techniques. The narrative is rich, contextual, and unrushed. After two hours, you transfer to a family-owned rum distillery for a seated masterclass: a master blender walks you through five aged expressions, explains the cane-to-bottle process, and lets you blend a small personal bottle to take home. A Caribbean lunch of creole shrimp and plantains closes out a culturally immersive day.
Good to know
Wear comfortable walking shoes — cobblestone streets are uneven. The distillery masterclass is indoors and air-conditioned. Full excursion runs 5–5.5 hours. Pre-book 10+ days ahead; the masterclass table seats a maximum of 8 guests.
