Glide into the breathtaking Saguenay River Fjord aboard a small Zodiac to encounter beluga whales, minke whales, and fin whales in one of the world's great cetacean corridors. This is the bucket-list wildlife encounter of eastern Canada.
What to expect
Depart from Tadoussac, where the cold, nutrient-rich Saguenay meets the St. Lawrence — one of the planet's most reliable whale-watching hotspots. Zodiacs carry just 12 passengers, allowing the guide to position you precisely for each surfacing. On a great day you may encounter four or five species, including the rare blue whale. The dramatic 300-metre fjord cliffs frame every photograph magnificently.
Good to know
Tadoussac is a common Gulf of St. Lawrence port call; the whale-watch dock is a 5-minute walk from the pier. Pre-book directly well in advance — summer and early autumn departures sell out weeks ahead. Allow 3–3.5 hours; confirm all-aboard time before selecting a departure slot. Dress in warm layers even in August.
