Discover Norway's national museum of musical history inside a Baroque manor house, its collection spanning 2,000 instruments from across five centuries and every corner of the globe. Guided tours end with a live recital performed on the historic instruments — utterly unique.
What to expect
The manor sits in landscaped botanical gardens on a peninsula above the Nidelva estuary — one of Trondheim's most beautiful settings. Your guide escorts a small group through chronologically arranged rooms, each showcasing extraordinary instruments: glass harmonicas, enormous barrel organs, Norwegian folk instruments and a concert grand once owned by a 19th-century virtuoso. At each stop, the guide plays — the music filling rooms whose acoustics have changed little in 300 years. The rose garden outside is perfect for a post-tour stroll.
