Glide silently across the world-famous UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord in a sea kayak, paddling beneath thousand-metre cliff walls and into the spray of the Seven Sisters waterfalls — a bucket-list encounter with Norway at its rawest.
What to expect
After a brief safety and paddling briefing at Geiranger quay, you launch into the mirror-calm fjord and begin the 5km paddle toward the waterfalls. The scale becomes apparent only when you are truly in it — walls of rock 1,400 metres high rising on both sides, waterfalls fanning out above you. Your guide points out the abandoned farmsteads of Knivsflå and explains how families wintered here centuries ago. The paddle back with the village of Geiranger in view is a moment of pure Norwegian serenity.
