Glide deep into the heart of Prins Christian Sund aboard a private Zodiac, weaving between cathedral icebergs and beneath waterfalls cascading off sheer granite walls. This is the rawest, most intimate encounter with Greenland's most dramatic waterway.
What to expect
Board a rigid inflatable Zodiac directly from a local landing point and enter the sound at dawn or dusk for the most dramatic light. Your bilingual guide manoeuvres to the base of hanging glaciers and past bobbing bergy bits while explaining the fjord's 4-billion-year-old bedrock. The silence is absolute except for the crack and groan of calving ice. You'll have ample time for photography before returning comfortably ahead of all-aboard.
Good to know
Pre-book as far in advance as possible — private Zodiac slots are extremely limited in the short Arctic summer (July–September). Waterproof trousers and layers are essential; the operator provides dry-suits or float suits on request. Confirm your ship's anchor/tender time before booking to ensure a comfortable buffer to all-aboard.
