Sea-kayak through the ice-laden waters near Prins Christian Sund, paddling silently alongside luminous blue icebergs and beneath granite cliffs. The ultimate human-powered encounter with the world's most spectacular polar seascape.
What to expect
After a shore-side briefing and fitting for dry suits, you launch stable sea-kayaks into the fjord's mirror-calm waters. Your guide leads the group through narrow ice corridors, pausing to explain the geology of Greenland's ancient basement rock and the life cycles of growlers and bergy bits. The scale of the icebergs — some taller than a five-storey building — is staggering from sea level. Wildlife sightings can include ringed seals basking on ice floes and Arctic terns diving overhead.
Good to know
No prior kayaking experience required; stable tandem kayaks are available. Dry suits are provided and mandatory. Book early as Arctic kayak sessions in southern Greenland are weather-dependent and fill quickly. Allow at least 3 hours plus transfer time; confirm all-aboard clearance before booking.
