Paddle a sea-kayak along Fulaga's otherworldly coastline of towering raised-coral limestone arches and sea caves — a geological spectacle found almost nowhere else on Earth. Glide through natural tunnels and into hidden chambers lit by shafts of tropical sun.
What to expect
Launching from a sheltered beach just inside the lagoon mouth, you paddle anti-clockwise around the island's outer rim where the coral karst cliffs soar 20–30 metres above the waterline. Your guide narrates the geology — these formations are ancient reef platforms lifted by tectonic forces over millennia. Midway, you duck through a cathedral-like sea arch into a sunlit grotto, perfect for a swim. The return leg follows the calmer inner lagoon, with time to beach-comb a deserted white-sand strip.
Good to know
Suitable for moderately fit paddlers; no kayaking experience required. Morning departures are essential — afternoon trade winds can strengthen considerably. Wear water shoes and a buff for sun protection. Confirm all-aboard time: allow at least 45 minutes to return to the tender dock.
