Venture deep into Sinharaja — Sri Lanka's last viable lowland rainforest and a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site — on a private guided walk with a specialist naturalist. Endemic birds, purple-faced langurs, and ancient hardwood giants await in a forest that feels untouched by time.
What to expect
Depart Galle in a private air-conditioned vehicle (approx. 1.5 hrs) and enter the forest with a specialist naturalist licensed by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation. The trail winds through multi-layered canopy where you'll spot endemic blue magpies, Ceylon spurfowl, and if fortune smiles, the elusive Sri Lanka leopard cat. Your guide interprets the medicinal plants, fungi, and butterfly species that make Sinharaja biologically irreplaceable. A gourmet packed breakfast and traditional Sri Lankan lunch at a forest-edge lodge are included.
Good to know
This is a full-day excursion (approx. 8–9 hours); confirm your ship's all-aboard time before booking. Forest trails can be muddy — waterproof walking boots and light long-sleeved clothing are essential. Leech socks are provided on-site. Best visited November through April (dry season).
