Journey by private minibus deep into the Lodalen valley to the emerald shores of Lake Lovatnet and the rarely visited Kjenndalsbreen glacier — a wilder, less-trodden cousin of Briksdal that rewards those willing to seek it out.
What to expect
The valley road to Kjenndal is one of the most dramatic in Norway, clinging to the cliff above the impossibly green lake before opening onto a glacial plain. At the valley head, Kjenndalsbreen calves gently into a meltwater river, its crevassed blue face reflected in still water. The surrounding peaks rise over 2,000 metres, and golden eagles are frequently spotted on the thermals. Your guide provides geological and ecological commentary that makes the landscape come alive.
Good to know
The Kjenndal road is narrow — only small vehicles can access the innermost valley, which is precisely why it stays uncrowded. Allow 4–5 hours total. Combine with the Loen Skylift on the same day if time permits (Loen is en route). Waterproof footwear recommended for glacier-edge walking. Olden Adventure handles logistics from pier to pier.
