Learn the secrets of authentic Khmer cuisine alongside trainee chefs at the acclaimed Don Bosco Hotel School — a social enterprise that has trained hundreds of Cambodian youth. Tour local markets, cook a four-course feast, then sit down to eat what you've made.
What to expect
You begin at a vibrant local market with your student-guide, selecting fresh lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal and river fish. Back in the professional teaching kitchen, you'll pound a traditional kroeung spice paste by hand, stuff amok in banana leaves, and wok-fry a classic lok lak. The meal is served in the school's elegant restaurant — a showcase for the students' growing skills. The warmth and pride of these young chefs is genuinely moving.
