Descend into the real WWII command bunker beneath Dunkirk's citadel where Admiral Abrial orchestrated the miracle evacuation. An intimate guided visit brings the nine days of Dynamo to life with artefacts, original maps, and live radio chatter.
What to expect
You enter the citadel's 16th-century walls and descend into the damp, dimly lit bunker — a genuine nerve centre frozen in 1940, still holding the original furniture, telephones, and situation maps. Your guide narrates the hour-by-hour decisions that saved the BEF. Atmospheric sound design recreates Stuka dives and crackling wireless communications. The small-group format means you can linger in the cipher room and study the original orders for as long as you wish. Emerging back into daylight, the adjacent beach panorama makes the scale of the evacuation suddenly, emotionally real.
Good to know
