Explore the dramatic promontory where Admiral Rodney launched the decisive Battle of the Saints in 1782 — ruins, a regimental museum, twin hilltop forts, and sweeping views over Martinique — then toast with a St. Lucian rum at the island's beach bar.
What to expect
A causeway connects the island to the mainland just north of Castries, making it one of the most accessible yet underrated stops on the island. Fort Rodney's cannon-lined ramparts command a view that stretches to Martinique on a clear day, and the climb to Signal Peak (108m) takes under 20 minutes. The onsite interpretive museum is genuinely engaging, and the beach below is one of the calmer, less-crowded strips of sand on the north coast. End the visit at Jambe de Bois restaurant with a cold Piton beer or rum punch overlooking the bay.
Good to know
Only 30 minutes north of Castries by road — one of the closest major attractions to the pier. An excellent half-day option that pairs beautifully with the Castries market or a spa afternoon. Book a private guide through SLNT in advance for the deepest experience.
