Witness the raw, volcanic north coast of Curaçao where Atlantic waves crash violently into sea caves and blowholes at Shete Boka — one of the Caribbean's most dramatic and least-visited natural spectacles.
What to expect
The park's rugged limestone terrain trails lead to Boka Tabla, a dramatic sea cave where waves thunder in from the open Atlantic — stand on the viewing platform for the full sensory impact. Continue to Boka Pistol, a blowhole that erupts 30 feet into the air with each wave. Between October and February, hawksbill turtles nest on the black-sand beaches here, and a knowledgeable guide knows exactly where to look. The alien, cactus-dotted landscape feels nothing like the Caribbean postcard.
Good to know
Located approximately 30–40 minutes by taxi from the pier (USD 40–50 each way). Wear closed-toe shoes — the terrain is sharp limestone. Combine with a stop at Playa Kenepa's cliff-jumping cove nearby for a full north coast adventure. Allow 3–4 hours minimum.
