Wander 32 acres of authentic 19th-century Louisiana plantation buildings — one of the South's most comprehensive outdoor folk museums — with a private curator-led tour that reveals the full, unvarnished story of Creole and African American rural life.
What to expect
Stroll through a living landscape of original cabins, a grist mill, a sugar house, Acadian cottage, and a Portuguese-style plantation manor — nearly 30 structures relocated from across Louisiana. Your curator contextualizes each building not just architecturally but humanly, sharing the lives of the enslaved, the Creole farmers, and the immigrant workers who shaped this land. Wisteria-draped pathways and ancient oaks make the grounds as visually spectacular as they are historically profound.
