Wander the UNESCO Creative City of Crafts & Folk Art's beating heart — Lowertown — where working artists open their studios in converted Victorian homes. A private curated tour delivers access and conversations money rarely buys.
What to expect
Your guide leads you through tree-lined streets of beautifully restored 19th-century homes, each housing a working artist who has relocated here under Paducah's celebrated Artist Relocation Program. You step inside studios — not galleries — where paint is still wet and kilns are still warm. Artists share their inspirations, techniques, and the story of how this unlikely Kentucky river town became an international art destination. The district also has excellent independent boutiques and cafés for a mid-tour pause.
Good to know
Lowertown is approximately a 15-minute walk or short rideshare from the riverfront. Many studios are open without appointment on weekdays; a private guide ensures the best artists are available and ready. Book through the CVB (contact Amina Watkins) at least 48 hours in advance. The Yeiser Art Center on Market House Square is a worthy add-on stop.
