Discover why Paducah became one of America's great railroad cities at this intimate, artefact-rich museum run by passionate railroading experts. Rare locomotives, original dispatching equipment, and living history make this unmissable.
What to expect
The museum fills a historic downtown building with full-scale locomotives, original signal equipment, and thousands of artefacts from the Illinois Central golden era. Volunteer guides — many of them former IC engineers and machinists — recount firsthand the thunder of the yards at full production and the social fabric of a railroad town. Interactive exhibits let you operate vintage dispatching boards, and the photographic archive of Paducah's rail heritage is extraordinary. A short film provides essential context before you explore the collection.
