Be chauffeured to the mountain village of Zia — the highest point on Kos — for the island's most celebrated sunset, followed by a private table at a traditional taverna for a slow, starlit dinner of slow-roasted lamb, local wine and warm Koan hospitality.
What to expect
The winding mountain road unspools through terraced hillsides and fragrant thyme scrub as Kos Town shrinks below. Zia's whitewashed lanes are lined with bougainvillea; your guide points out the Byzantine church and the ancient sacred spring before leading you to the viewing terrace. As the sun drops into the Aegean — painting Kalymnos and the Turkish coast in copper and rose — you toast with local ouzo. Dinner follows at a candlelit stone taverna: slow-cooked lamb kleftiko, wild greens, fresh bread and a carafe of Dodecanese wine.
Good to know
This experience is best suited to evening port calls or ships that stay late into the evening. Confirm all-aboard time carefully — the drive back to port takes approximately 30–40 minutes. Zia is at altitude; bring a light wrap for after sunset. Reserve the taverna table at least 48 hours ahead in peak season.
