Perched on dramatic sea cliffs at the tip of Dolsan Island, Hyangiram is one of Korea's four sacred Buddhist hermitages. Carved into rock faces above crashing waves, it delivers a spiritual and visual experience unlike anywhere else in Asia.
What to expect
Your guide meets you at port and transfers you to the southern tip of Dolsan Island, where a short forest path leads to the hermitage carved directly into sea-facing granite boulders. Stone pavilions jut over the ocean, incense drifts through salt air, and resident monks go about their rituals around you. The panoramic views of the Korea Strait islands are simply breathtaking. On the return, stop at Dolsan Park's observation deck for the full sweep of Yeosu's coastline.
Good to know
Allow 3.5–4 hours round-trip from port. Dolsan Bridge is 10–15 minutes by car. Book your private guide at least 48 hours in advance via GoWithGuide. Wear comfortable shoes — the final approach involves uneven stone steps. Check all-aboard time carefully; a 5-hour port window is ideal.
