Robinson Crusoe Island: Endemic Flora Highlands Trek

Hike deep into the mist-shrouded highlands of Isla Robinson Crusoe with a local naturalist guide, discovering 91 endemic plant species found nowhere else on Earth. A rare, bucket-list immersion into one of the world's most isolated island ecosystems.

What to expect

You'll depart the village of San Juan Bautista on foot and ascend into cloud-forest altitude via well-maintained but genuinely wild trails. Your guide will stop to identify rare endemic plants and point out the endemic Juan Fernández firecrown hummingbird hovering over native flora. The views back down to Cumberland Bay are staggering. Expect 3–4 hours of moderate hiking with rich ecological storytelling throughout.

Good to know

All-aboard times are strict — confirm timing with the expedition team before departing. Book a licensed CONAF guide in advance via the park authority; independent trekking beyond marked trails is not permitted. Wear layered, moisture-wicking clothing and sturdy hiking shoes. Pre-register at the CONAF office on arrival in San Juan Bautista.
