Circumnavigate the dramatic volcanic coastline of Isla Robinson Crusoe by Zodiac, threading through sea caves, beneath towering basalt cliffs, and past raucous seabird colonies in total, awe-inspiring wilderness. One of the most visually spectacular small-boat experiences in the South Pacific.
What to expect
Departing from the village dock, your Zodiac hugs the island's rugged coastline, revealing a dramatic world of lava arches, hidden grottoes, and nesting colonies of Stejneger's petrel and Juan Fernández petrel — both species found almost nowhere else. Your guide narrates the geology and wildlife as you glide into otherwise inaccessible sea caves. Playful fur seals often join you on the water. The light on the cliffs at mid-morning is extraordinary for photography.
Good to know
Sea conditions are generally calm in Cumberland Bay but can be lively around the headlands — a light waterproof layer is advised. This excursion is suitable for most guests including non-swimmers. Book directly with Crusoe Island Lodge as group sizes are strictly capped. Ideal as a morning excursion before the highland hike in the afternoon.
