Board a purpose-built vessel and lock through the original Miraflores and Pedro Miguel chambers, glide the Gaillard Cut, and emerge onto Gatún Lake — the engineering wonder that redrew world trade. Absolutely unmissable bucket-list Panama.
What to expect
You board at Amador Causeway and spend roughly six hours transiting the Pacific-side locks under bilingual narration from certified canal guides. As the chamber fills and the gates swing open, the sense of scale is genuinely jaw-dropping. Lunch and open-bar beverages are served on deck as you cross the mirror-flat waters of Gatún Lake. Disembarkation is on the Atlantic side, with coach return to Panama City.
Good to know
Pre-booking is essential — this sells out weeks in advance. The tour runs roughly 6–8 hours; confirm the all-aboard time with your ship and allow a 90-min buffer. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and layers — the open deck is exposed. Taxes of 17% are added at checkout.
