Panama Canal Railway: First-Class Dome Car Crossing

Board the restored vintage carriages of the historic Panama Canal Railway for a breathtaking 48-mile crossing between the Pacific and Atlantic coasts, through jungle, across Gatun Lake, and alongside the canal itself — all from the panoramic glass dome car. One of the world's great train journeys, condensed into an hour.

What to expect

Departing Corozal Station on the Pacific at 07:15, the train immediately plunges into dense rainforest before emerging onto the shimmering causeway across Gatun Lake, where container ships glide past seemingly within arm's reach. A bilingual on-board narrator recounts the canal's construction saga — the French failure, the yellow fever crisis, the American triumph. The entire crossing takes just 60 minutes, arriving at Colón on the Caribbean coast.
