Cayman Crystal Caves guided tour, Northside

Descend through tropical forest into a network of ancient underground caverns hung with dramatic stalactites and stalagmites, including a chamber with a glassy subterranean lagoon. Ranked among the top natural attractions in the world, the caves are a striking, cool-temperature contrast to the beaches and a genuine bucket-list curiosity on an island better known for its water. A knowledgeable guide brings the geology and Cayman folklore to life.

What to expect

The caves are on the north side, roughly a 30-40 minute drive from George Town. Guided walking tours run about 90 minutes, eight times daily between 9am and 4pm, along well-maintained boardwalks and stairs through three show caves. It's humid and there are steps, so wear closed-toe shoes with grip. The forested grounds and the cave lagoon are highly photogenic.

Beats the ship · vs the cruise line

Cruise lines and Disney offer Crystal Caves tours bundled with transport at a clear markup over the USD 40 gate price. If you'll take a taxi to Northside, booking direct saves money. The ship tour's value is purely the included ~40-minute transfer and guaranteed return timing.

Good to know

All tours must be pre-booked online; reserve a slot that leaves ample buffer for the drive back to the tender. Arrange a taxi or private driver round-trip, as return transport from Northside is not guaranteed otherwise. Bring water and a light layer; the caves stay cool.
