Corregidor — the 'Rock' that guarded Manila Bay — is among the Pacific War's most hallowed battlegrounds. Traverse its haunting gun batteries, the legendary Malinta Tunnel, and the Pacific War Memorial on a guided day voyage that reads like living history.
What to expect
The Sun Cruises catamaran departs CCP Complex (a 15-minute ride from the cruise port) and crosses Manila Bay in about 1.5 hours, with sweeping views of the bay at dawn. On the island, an open-air tram ferries you past the bombed-out Mile-Long Barracks, the Spanish Lighthouse, and the Pacific War Memorial, where the eternal flame burns for Filipino and American soldiers. Inside Malinta Tunnel, a dramatic sound-and-light show recreates General MacArthur's final hours before his famous escape. The return sail offers sundowners with the Manila skyline silhouetted against the bay.
Good to know
Ferries depart at 7:30 am from CCP Complex; the full-day tour returns by approximately 4–4:30 pm, comfortably before typical all-aboard times. Book ferry tickets directly on the Corregidor Philippines website well in advance — weekend departures sell out. Wear sun protection and comfortable shoes; the island terrain is uneven.
