Komodo National Park is one of the planet's top ten dive sites — strong currents push nutrient-rich cold water up from the deep, creating extraordinary marine biodiversity. A private 2-tank dive visits Castle Rock or Batu Bolong, where reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, and walls of anthias await.
What to expect
Your PADI-certified dive master briefs you on board while the boat reads the current and selects the optimal site — Castle Rock for pelagic drama (white-tip reef sharks, schooling barracuda, giant trevally) or Batu Bolong for its near-vertical coral wall plunging 70 metres into the blue. Between dives, lunch is served on deck as the boat moves to the second site. Surface intervals offer views of flying foxes and sea eagles over the islands. The biodiversity here is staggering — more fish species per square kilometre than almost anywhere on Earth.
Good to know
Open Water certification (minimum) required; Advanced recommended for Castle Rock due to currents. Bring your logbook and certification card. A 24-hour no-fly/no-tender rule applies post-dive — note this against helicopter transfers or tender departures. Allow 6–7 hours total.
