Perch on a 70-metre sea cliff as the Indian Ocean blazes gold, then watch Bali's most hypnotic ritual — the Kecak fire dance — unfold at the ancient Pura Luhur Uluwatu. This is the single most cinematic evening Bali offers any visitor.
What to expect
Your private driver collects you at Benoa and whisks you south along the Bukit Peninsula. Arriving before dusk, your guide escorts you through the temple compound — draped in a traditional sarong — pointing out centuries-old carvings and the resident long-tailed macaques. As the sun sinks, 70 bare-chested Balinese men form a circle and unleash the chanting, percussion-free Kecak: the epic Ramayana told entirely through voice and firelight. The drive back to the port takes roughly 45 minutes, well within any all-aboard.
Good to know
Kecak performances begin at approximately 18:00 and last one hour; check your ship's all-aboard time carefully. The temple is 45–50 min from Benoa by car. Pre-book the private vehicle; temple entry sarong is mandatory (provided). Bring a light layer — clifftop breezes can be cool after sunset.
