One of only two saltwater hot springs in the world, Maquinit is fed by volcanic rock and fringed by mangroves — a deeply restorative soak just 7 km from the pier. At dusk, fireflies emerge and the karst ridgeline silhouettes against an indigo sky.
What to expect
The main pool sits at a consistent 39°C (102°F), naturally heated by volcanic activity deep beneath Coron Island — warm enough to ease every muscle after a day of island-hopping. Elevated timber decks overlook the mangrove forest; a cooler freshwater pool provides relief between hot soaks. The salt content gives the water a silky, skin-softening quality distinct from any freshwater onsen. After dark, the mangroves light up with bioluminescent fireflies in a genuinely magical display.
Good to know
Only 7 km from the cruise pier — a 15-minute tricycle ride. Best visited from 16:00 onwards when day crowds thin. Bring a change of clothes and a small towel; lockers and basic changing facilities are on-site. This pairs perfectly as a late-afternoon wind-down after an earlier island excursion.
