Deep in the Lithuanian forest lies a perfectly preserved Soviet-era nuclear missile base — launch pads, bunkers, silos and all — that once held warheads capable of reaching Western Europe. A chilling, utterly unforgettable half-day that exists nowhere else on a Baltic itinerary.
What to expect
The drive takes roughly 30 minutes from Klaipeda port into dense forest, where the site emerges without warning — all concrete and camouflage. Your guide walks you through the missile storage tunnels, the command centre, and the eerie open launch pads still pointed skyward. The site is dramatically authentic; nothing has been sanitised for tourists. Decommissioned warhead casings, Soviet-era maps, and declassified briefing documents complete the picture.
Good to know
The site is approximately 35 km from Klaipeda; allow 4–5 hours including transfer. Wear comfortable walking shoes — ground is uneven. Confirm availability directly with Nordic Experience and specify your all-aboard time so they can tailor timing accordingly.
