Mayotte's most coveted beach conceals a secret: wild Livingstone's fruit bats and Mayotte brown lemurs emerge at the forest edge by mid-morning. Combine powder-white sand, gin-clear water, and a wildlife encounter found nowhere else on earth.
What to expect
A private air-conditioned 4x4 whisks you south along Mayotte's lush coastline to the remote cove of N'Gouja — one of the Indian Ocean's most beautiful beaches. Your guide leads you to the forest fringe where semi-habituated Mayotte brown lemurs descend from the canopy, close enough to photograph without a zoom lens. Afterwards, wade into the crystalline bay to snorkel over a sea-turtle nursery right from the shore. A chilled local coconut awaits your return to the beach before the scenic drive back to port.
Good to know
Journey is ~45 min each way from Mamoudzou. Confirm departure time against your ship's all-aboard — a 4-hour half-day tour fits most port calls comfortably. Lemurs are most active 08:00–11:00; book first departure slot.
