Plunge into one of the Caribbean's most biodiverse marine reserves — crystalline waters teeming with sea turtles, angel fish, and a spectacular bat-inhabited sea cave accessible only by boat.
What to expect
Your boat slips out of the southern coast into the crystalline waters of the Anse Dufour marine protected area, where sea turtles graze on seagrass beds with remarkable indifference to gentle snorkelers. The skipper then threads the vessel into the Bat Cave — a dramatic sea cavern where thousands of roosting bats cling to the vaulted ceiling and shafts of turquoise light pierce the darkness. After the cave, a second snorkel stop reveals a coral garden alive with parrotfish, sergeant majors, and the occasional nurse shark. Fresh tropical fruit and cold local beer are served on the return journey as you watch the mountains of Martinique recede.
Good to know
Departure is typically from Le Diamant or Anse-d'Arlets on the south coast — confirm pick-up logistics from the cruise pier. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and an underwater camera. Morning departures offer the calmest seas and best visibility. Pre-book at least 48 hours ahead on busy port days.
