Plunge deep into the UNESCO-listed National Park rainforest to reach the thundering 110m second Carbet waterfall — one of the Caribbean's most spectacular natural cascades. Lush, cool, and gloriously remote, this is Guadeloupe at its most elemental.
What to expect
Transfer from the cruise pier (approx. 1 hr 15 min) takes you to the Capesterre-Belle-Eau trailhead inside Parc National de la Guadeloupe. The well-marked trail descends through giant ferns and tree ferns draped in bromeliads, with your guide pointing out hummingbirds and raccoons en route. The Second Fall — a sheer 110m curtain of water — drops into a cool, swimmable plunge pool surrounded by dramatic basalt columns. You'll have ample time to swim before the return hike.
Good to know
Wear proper trail shoes and bring a swimsuit under your clothes. The trail is moderate — slippery in places — so trekking poles are advisable for those with knee concerns. Journey to trailhead is approximately 45 km from the cruise port; build in travel time and confirm your ship's all-aboard when booking.
