Motor out to Isla Farallón, Topolobampo's dramatic volcanic sea stack, where a thriving California sea lion colony hauls out on sun-baked rocks just meters from your boat. Pelicans, blue-footed boobies, and frigate birds round out the spectacle.
What to expect
A brisk 30-minute crossing from the malecón leads to the craggy basalt stack rising from the Pacific. Dozens of barking sea lions drape themselves across every ledge while others torpedo through the emerald water alongside the boat. The captain circles the island slowly, narrating the colony's behavior. On the return, the bay's mirror-flat waters reflect the Sierra Madre in the distance — one of the most dramatic seascapes on Mexico's Pacific coast.
