Go deep inside the Bardo — home to the world's largest and most spectacular Roman mosaic collection — with a private art-historian guide who decodes mythological scenes and Punic craftsmanship few visitors ever truly understand.
What to expect
Set inside a lavish Husainid palace, the Bardo's marble halls are lined floor-to-ceiling with mosaics salvaged from Roman villas across Tunisia — portraits of Virgil, Neptune's chariot, and entire dining-room floors lifted intact. Your guide contextualises each piece within the sweep of Punic, Roman, and early Christian North Africa. Expect a minimum of two absorbing hours, with access to the Punic and Islamic wings most visitors skip. The museum café is an elegant spot for a post-tour espresso.
