Step inside Pangnirtung's celebrated Angmarlik Interpretive Centre for an exclusive, guide-led deep-dive into Inuit heritage, oral history, and the living culture of Baffin Island's Qikiqtaaluk people. A rare, intimate encounter with one of the world's most extraordinary Indigenous traditions.
What to expect
The Angmarlik Centre houses an outstanding collection of artifacts, photographs, and multimedia exhibits chronicling life on Baffin Island from pre-contact times through the 20th century. Your interpreter brings the displays to life with personal and family stories, demonstrating traditional tools, describing seasonal hunting patterns, and explaining how the community balances modernity with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (traditional knowledge). On select days, local elders join to share songs or stories.
Good to know
The centre is a short walk from the wharf — no transport needed. Pre-arrange a private session through the Hamlet office well ahead of your port call. Photography of cultural demonstrations should always be requested first out of respect.
