A single unhurried private day connects three of Central Europe's most storied towns — the cathedral city of Esztergom, royal Visegrád, and the artists' haven of Szentendre — with a full board lunch at a celebrated local restaurant included. The complete Danube Bend story, privately told.
What to expect
The day opens at Esztergom's basilica — the largest church in Hungary, looming above the Danube on a volcanic hill with Slovakia visible across the water. Your guide contextualises a thousand years of Hungarian Christianity before you move to Visegrád's Royal Palace and Citadel. A leisurely lunch at a riverside restaurant follows, featuring Hungarian classics such as halászlé (fisherman's soup) and rétes (strudel). The afternoon is devoted to Szentendre's Baroque lanes, galleries, and the superb open-air ethnographic Skanzen museum. Return to Visegrad is calibrated to your all-aboard.
Good to know
This is an all-day commitment — plan for 7–8 hours. Confirm your all-aboard time when booking so the guide can reverse-engineer the schedule. The Skanzen museum in Szentendre requires an additional entrance fee (approx. EUR 7). Comfortable walking shoes essential; distances across all three sites add up quickly.
