Eastport's own wilderness headland rewards hikers with panoramic 360° views of Passamaquoddy Bay, Cobscook Bay, and the Canadian islands — all within a 30-minute walk of the cruise pier. A local naturalist guide transforms a beautiful walk into a masterclass in Maine coastal ecology.
What to expect
The trail climbs gently through mixed coastal forest before opening suddenly onto a dramatic headland with sheer drops to the bay. On a clear day the view extends to New Brunswick, Grand Manan Island, and — on the clearest mornings — as far as Mount Katahdin. Bald eagles are a near-daily sighting; great blue herons stalk the tidal pools below. The round trip is approximately 1.8 miles with modest elevation.
Good to know
The trailhead is less than a mile from the cruise pier — walkable, or a quick five-minute taxi ride. No entry fee, but tip your naturalist guide generously. Wear sturdy shoes; the path can be muddy after rain. Allow 1.5–2 hours including time at the summit. Arrange your guide through the Eastport Chamber of Commerce ahead of your port call.
