Perched on a dramatic cliff above the Gulf of Aqaba, Castle Zaman is Sinai's most extraordinary restaurant — a handcrafted stone fortress serving slow-cooked Bedouin feasts with one of the most breathtaking views on Earth. A culinary and architectural experience unlike anywhere else in Egypt.
What to expect
A private 4x4 transfer follows the coastal road south of Sharm, climbing through raw Sinai landscape before the castle's crenellated towers appear on the clifftop. The restaurant is built entirely from local stone by Bedouin craftsmen, with open terraces that plunge to the turquoise Gulf of Aqaba far below. Lunch is an unhurried Bedouin feast — slow-cooked lamb, herb-scented lentil soups, mountain-dried salads — served over two to three hours with no pressure to leave. The panorama across the Gulf to Saudi Arabia is simply unforgettable.
Good to know
Castle Zaman is approx. 35–40 minutes south of Sharm by private car; allow 4–5 hours total. Reservations are essential and should be made directly via the Castle Zaman website or phone — walk-ins are rarely accommodated. Confirm your all-aboard time and book a private driver who will wait.
